Isn't it exciting when old traditions make modern-day sense?
Did you know that smelling flowers has been scientifically reported to improve mood and lessen anxiety?
Studies shows that hospital patients with flowers in their room had lower blood pressure and needed less medication than those with no flowers in their room.
A Harvard University study shows increased energy and improved mood when flowers are in the workplace, while Rutgers University confirms a direct link between flowers reducing depression and increasing happiness!
An additional discovery is that flowers improve problem solving skills and increase creativity.
When choosing flowers, the more pastel in color, the more relaxing they can be. While brighter colors will energize you. And apparently shape even plays a factor.
Pay attention to what you are drawn to and consider what mood you would like to create. Is this a workspace that requires energy and ideas? Or is it a soothing, restful space to relax and restore?
Next time you're at the grocery store, the hardware store, the health food store...just about everywhere sells flowers, grab a bunch! Or take a walk outside, is there anything you can bring indoors?
Then sit back, take a whiff and . . . enjoy!
